A
Authentication    
The process of confirming or denying that a claimed identity is correct by comparing the credentials (something you know, something you have, something you are) of a person requesting access with those previously proven and stored in the PIV Card or system and associated with the identity being claimed.

Biometric Template    
A biometric template is the biometric features of a single individual have been stored for the purpose of a comparison. A comparison is done between the stored biometric template and the actual biometric features coming from the sensor or terminal.

Biometrics    
Biometrics is the automated recognition of individuals based on their behavioral and biological characteristics.

D
Data Integrity    
The measurement of whether data has been altered in an unauthorized manner. Data integrity covers data in storage, during processing, and while in transit.

E
Enroll    
Taking a biometric sample from an end user to be used as a template for comparison

False Acceptance Rate    
The probability that a biometric system will incorrectly identify an individual or will fail to reject an impostor. The rate given normally assumes passive impostor attempts.

Fill Normal First    
This means that if an employee arrives late at work ie. one hour late but he works one hour overtime you have the choice to fill normal time first before paying overtime or pay short on normal time but pay the full overtime. This is probably the most expensive option for any company but certain trade unions insist on using it.

FRR    
False Rejection Rate: The probability that a biometric system will fail to identify an applicant, or verify the legitimate claimed identity of an applicant

Grace-Late in Early Out    
This is the amount of time in minutes that your staff can clock in late at the start of shift and early at the end of shift.

P
PIN    
Personal Identification Number: A password consisting of decimal numbers 0-9.

Schedule    
The Schedule is the set of business rules applying to employees.  Examples include a Normal limit of 43 hours, overtime rates and automatic deductions of lunches. Once your schedules and shifts have been set up, remember to link each staff member to the relevant schedules/shift, thereby defining the individual’s schedule and pay rules.
